In the meantime, check this week's free games for freebies from Epic, Steam, GOG, and more.
2.What Is IndieGala?
IndieGala is an Italian digital game store founded in 2012 that specializes in indie game bundles, flash deals, and free game giveaways. While it does not have the brand recognition of Steam or Epic, IndieGala has built a loyal community of deal-hunters and indie game fans over more than a decade of operation.
What makes IndieGala unique in the free games space is its dedicated freebies section at freebies.indiegala.com. Unlike platforms where free games are buried in a larger store, IndieGala puts its giveaways front and center. The freebies page is the first thing many users check when they visit the site.
IndieGala offers both DRM-free downloads and Steam keys for its free games. This flexibility is a major advantage — you can add games to your Steam library when keys are available, or download DRM-free versions that you own outright with no launcher required.
3.How to Claim IndieGala Free Games
Create an IndieGala Account
Go to indiegala.com and sign up for a free account. You can register with an email address or link your Steam, Facebook, Google, or Twitch account. No payment information is needed.
Visit the Freebies Page
Navigate to freebies.indiegala.com to see all currently available free games. You can also check the TroveGG IndieGala page for a curated view with expiration times.
Click "Add to Library"
Click the claim button on the game's page. Some games may ask you to complete a quick action like visiting the store page. Once claimed, the game appears in your IndieGala library under "My Library."
Download or Activate Key
Go to your IndieGala library to access the game. If it includes a Steam key, copy the key and activate it in Steam. If it is a DRM-free download, download the installer directly. Both options are permanent.
Tip: If a game comes with a Steam key, activate it right away. Steam keys from giveaways occasionally have limited quantities, and activating promptly ensures you do not lose access if the publisher revokes unactivated keys later.
4.Types of IndieGala Freebies
Steam Key Giveaways
The most valuable type. You get a Steam key that permanently adds the game to your Steam library, complete with achievements, cloud saves, and all other Steam features. These are identical to buying the game on Steam.
DRM-Free Downloads
Download the game installer directly from IndieGala. No Steam or any other launcher needed. You own the files outright. Great for offline play or if you prefer not to use Steam. Similar to what GOG offers.
Limited-Time Giveaways
Most IndieGala freebies are available for a limited time, anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Some giveaways also have a limited number of keys. Claiming quickly ensures you do not miss out.
5.Tips to Get the Most from IndieGala
Check the Freebies Page Regularly
Unlike Epic's predictable Thursday schedule, IndieGala giveaways can appear any day. Check the freebies page every few days, or bookmark the TroveGG IndieGala tracker which aggregates all current giveaways in one place.
Claim Everything, Sort Later
IndieGala free games are mostly small indie titles, but some turn out to be hidden gems. Claiming takes under a minute and costs nothing. Even if a game looks uninteresting now, you might enjoy it later. This is the same strategy that works with building a free game library across all platforms.
Activate Steam Keys Promptly
When you get a Steam key from IndieGala, activate it on Steam as soon as possible. Keys from mass giveaways can occasionally be revoked if not activated within a certain timeframe. Once activated on Steam, the game is permanently in your account.
Stack with Other Free Game Sources
IndieGala works best as part of a broader free game strategy. Combine it with Epic's weekly giveaways, Steam freebies, Prime Gaming, and GOG giveaways to maximize your collection. See our complete guide to free PC games for the full strategy.
Explore the IndieGala Store for Deals
Beyond freebies, IndieGala's store regularly has deep discounts on indie games, often beating Steam sale prices. Their bundle deals (multiple games for $1-5) are some of the best values in PC gaming. If you enjoy the free games, the paid deals are worth exploring.
6.IndieGala vs Other Free Game Platforms
| Feature | IndieGala | Epic | Steam | GOG |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | Free | Free | Free |
| Frequency | Multiple/week | Weekly | Irregular | During sales |
| Game Quality | Indie (small) | AAA + Indie | Varies | Classic + Indie |
| DRM-Free | Some games | No | No | Always |
| Steam Keys | Some games | N/A | Native | No |
| Schedule | Unpredictable | Thursdays 11AM ET | No schedule | No schedule |
The Bottom Line
IndieGala is not a replacement for Epic or Steam — it is a complement. The games are smaller and less well-known, but the frequency of giveaways means you are constantly adding to your library. For indie game fans who enjoy discovering hidden gems, IndieGala is one of the best sources available. For the full picture, see our platform comparison guide.
7.IndieGala Bundles: Near-Free Gaming
Beyond the completely free giveaways, IndieGala is famous for its game bundles. These are not free, but they are often the next best thing — 5 to 10 games for $1 to $5. For gamers on a tight budget, IndieGala bundles offer extraordinary value.
IndieGala bundles typically include Steam keys for each game. The bundle model works because publishers get exposure for games that might otherwise go unnoticed, while gamers get a curated selection of titles at a fraction of their combined retail price.
If you are already visiting IndieGala for free games, checking the bundle page takes seconds and can net you some great finds. Many well-reviewed indie games end up in bundles months after their initial release.
Standard Bundles
Pay-what-you-want bundles starting at $1. Usually 5-10 indie games with Steam keys. Different tiers unlock more games at higher price points.
Flash Deals
Time-limited deals on individual games at steep discounts. Not free, but often 80-95% off. Worth checking alongside the freebies page.
4 Games Are Free Right Now
Across all platforms — Epic, Steam, IndieGala, GOG, Prime Gaming, and more. Do not miss them.

Do I keep IndieGala free games forever?

Some IndieGala giveaways include Steam keys, while others are DRM-free downloads that you play without Steam. The listing for each game specifies whether it includes a Steam key or is a DRM-free download. Both types are free and permanent.
How does IndieGala compare to Epic Games Store free games?
